Brake Therapy Floating Brake Kit

Brake Therapy is the original, and still the best option for converting any bike to disc brakes.

Kits are availble for any bike: hardtail, full suspension, road, tandem, cruiser, cross, trials, or bmx.

It will work with any shape or type of dropout, conventional, horizontal or thru axle. Any brand 74mm Post Mount style caliper can be used, mechanical or hydraulic, with 160mm Rotors.

The caliper mounting bracket is located on the hub via a special spacer, which is provided with the kit. This insures that the caliper is always centered perfectly on the disc. The rod attaches to the v-brake or canti boss, feeding the loads into the frame in a manner that is less stressful than with v-brakes,as it is inline with the seatstay, as opposed to a perpendicular load path with v-brakes.

Brake Therapy has been on the market since 1997, providing thousands of happy customers with the ability to update their favorite bike to disc brakes. Most popular magazines have reviewed and approved of Brake Therapy.

BRAKE THERAPY FOR TRIALS BIKES

Has been proven over many years of competition, to be the strongest, most reliable way to add disc brakes to trials bikes.

Many championships have been won using Brake Therapy, allowing the rider to enjoy the advantages and instant bite of disc brakes, without worrying about frame failure or time consuming rim and brake pad preparation.

The rod attaches to the v-brake boss or magura 4 bolt mount, feeding the loads into the frame in a manner that is less stressful than with v-brakes, or with conventional integrated disc brake tabs, as it is inline with the seatstay, as opposed to a perpendicular load path with v-brakes or conventional disc brake mounts.

Brake Therapy has been on the market since 1997, providing thousands of happy customers with the ability to update their favorite bike to disc brakes. Many peer reviews of Brake Therapy for Trials have been posted online.  Here's a review of our Disc    Brake Conversion for Trials Bikes

Why Disc Brakes on Road Bikes?

The obvious benefits include all weather, fade free capability and performance in all conditions. Tire temperature and pressure are no longer affected by braking effort and tire Recent innovations such as road specific calipers, super light road disc hubs, and aluminum and carbon brake discs make it possible to save weight by converting to discs.

Performance and consistency are maintained, with no more heat related failures. The unseen benefit of disc brakes involve an aerodynamic advantage involving the boundary layer of air attached to the tire/rim while the tire is spinning. This boundary layer is moving at the same speed as the spinning tire. If the bicycle speed is 30 mph, the circumference of the tire and the boundary layer of air attached to it, are spinning at 30 mph.

This boundary layer of air must be sheared from the tire/rim as it passes through the brake caliper arch, with the brake pads in close proximity. The result is aerodynamic drag on the spinning wheel, which is removed when using a disc brake, which has a very small boundary layer with a corresponding surface speed that is much lower, due to the smaller diameter. The result is a faster spinning wheel which allows higher top speeds, that carry more momentum.
